Explore On Your Doorstep

Want to park up the car, hang up the keys, kick back and relax?  No problem! There's more than enough on your doorstep at Number One Seagate, Sewerby to do just that.

Stately Sewerby Hall & Gardens is a wander across the road from Number One Seagate. The 50 acres of park contain something for everyone - with a lively zoo area, woodland trails, tours of the historic house and lush landscaped gardens. There is even the opportunity to join a regular Sewerby Park Run.

Top Tip - Look out for special events, such as Summer outdoor cinema evenings, vehicle rallies and Winter wonderland / Halloween tours.

The pretty village of Flamborough is situated just under three miles from Sewerby with a good choice of pubs, restaurants, cafes & a Co-op.

Top Tip - As you drive through Flamborough you may well spot lobster & crab pots on driveways along with a fish counter at the mouth of a garage – the fishermen who sail out of North Landing sell crab, prawns and occasionally lobsters direct.   You won't get fresher than this and it's truly a local delight.

From Sewerby it's easy access into the Georgian seaside town of Bridlington. If you're feeling active it is a two mile walk along the promenade or beach to the busy working harbour which is a bustling centre of activity.  Alternatively, hop on the Land Train from Sewerby Hall.

Bridlington is flanked by two sandy and gently shelving beaches (North Beach and South Beach).  The long stretches of glorious sand are backed by a lovely promenade.

Top Tip – Bridlington is the lobster capital of Europe. You can buy them fresh off the boat from Arnolds to eat at home or from a number of the local restaurants.

Turn left on the coast path from Sewerby and ahead of you lies the promontory of Flamborough Head and the working lighthouse which protects this part of the coastline. Tours of the lighthouse can be booked.

Top Tip - Keep an eye out for the pods of dolphins and porpoises that hang out around the bay.

Pebble beach becoming more sandy with exposed rockpools at low tide.  Backed by woodlands with a variety of wildlife, including the occasional deer.  A walk through the woods takes you to a car park and kiosk cafe.

Dog friendly all year round.

South Landing, Flamborough

This can be a real sun trap as it's protected around the headland. There are no facilities at the beach and as a result it tends to be quieter. Pebbled, with plenty of rockpools at low tide.  This is a great spot for bird watching with lots of nesting seabirds through the Spring / Summer.   Nearby is the Yorkshire Wildlife Living Seas Centre which is well worth a visit!

Dog friendly all year round.

North Landing, Flamborough

Surrounded by dramatic chalk cliffs, this beach is a popular place for families, kayakers and birdwatchers. Fisherman launch from the beach to catch the local crabs & lobsters.  The opportunity to get up close to the wildlife is a big draw. There's a couple of cafes together with a car park.

Dog friendly all year round.
